Über mich

- Jahrgang '71, dnt Junior Phone '78, Busch electronic '83, CB Römer '85, DH1FAC 05/'87,
  DJ3ZF 10/'87,  Bundeswehr-Richtfunker 5 GHz '90, ziemlich QRT '91, wieder "on air" '05
  in Fonie 🎙️ und Digimodes 💻 auf 160m-70cm, 11m CB wieder '25

- Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Elektrotechnik (Vertiefung Nachrichtentechnik), TU Darmstadt '97;
  nach vielen Überstunden Privatier '26 🙂
- Mein Motto: "Besser drahtlos als ratlos!" 😉
- 2 tolle Töchter, leider nur "on air" per Smartphone 😉

- Andere Hobbies: Oldtimer 🚗 (Mercedes-Benz 220/8 '72, 250 TD '88 als "Funkwagen",
  190 E 1.8 '93 im Alltag; Chevrolet El Camino 5.0 V8 '80), Arbeiten an "Haus und Hof" 🏡,
  Heavy Metal 🤘

About me

- Born '71, kid's radio '78, radio experiment kit '83, CB The Roman '85, DH1FAC 05/'87,
  DJ3ZF 10/'87, army radio operator 5 GHz '90, rather QRT '91, back on air '05 in phone 🎙️ and
  digital 💻 modes on 160m-70cm, 11m CB again '25

- Master's degree in economics and electrical (in particular communications) engineering,
  Darmstadt Tech University '97; after much overtime man of leisure '26 🙂

- My motto: "Rather wireless than helpless!" 😉
- 2 great daughters, unfortunately on air only via smartphone 😉

- Other hobbies: Classic cars 🚗 (Mercedes-Benz 220/8 '72, 250 TD '88 as "radio car",
  190 E 1.8 '93 as daily driver; Chevrolet El Camino 305 V8 '80), DIY 🏡, Heavy Metal 🤘

160m-6m: TX ≤ 500W (≤ 15W EIRP on 60m)
- 160m: λ/4 inverted-L antenna (top height 16m) on a 2m deep ground rod with just
   2x10m buried radials - more MF antenna isn't possible on my site, but it reliably enables
   QSOs within Europe
- 80m-6m: Allband dual 1/3-wavelength dipole, inverted-vee 16-8m above the ground,
   which is created of two multiband λ/3 dipoles (or lambda/3 dipole or lambda third dipole,
   similar to the ZS6BKW antenna) connected in parallel

   (full description in German magazine CQ DL 5-2021 or shortened in QST August 2023)

- 20m-6m: Hexbeam made by MW0JZE, 14m above the ground
- 12m-10m vertical: Sirio SD-27 side boom mounted, 11m above the ground

11m CB: TX ≤ 4W AM/FM, 12W SSB (< 10W EIRP stationary), with pleasure portable 🌄
- mainly: unmodified Albrecht AE 5890 EU & 6290; for me, the charm of CB is QRP

2m/70cm: TX ≤ 50W, with pleasure portable 🌄
- 2m: 2 stacked Big Wheels, 12m above the ground
- 2m/70cm: 5-(8-)elements duoband Yagi, 13m above the ground
- 2m/70cm FM: Diamond X300 side boom mounted, 10m above the ground
- 2m/70cm FM mobile: TX ≤ 20W + (3)λ/4

13cm
: TX ≤ 1W
- HAMnet link (Ubiquiti PowerBeam PBE-M2-400 with radome),
  working well over 35 km to DB0HRF (currently out of use)

Rare rigs:
- Atlas 215x Limited Edition (analog & compact & robust & simple 160m-15m SSB 100W)

  & Atlas 220-CS AC console PS & Shure 404C mic
- Belcom LS-202E (aka Santec LS-202A, 2m SSB & FM handheld 3W)
- gaga UV-50 (duoband 2m/70cm allmode PA 5W -> 50W with HF-VOX,
  made by Tokyo Hy-Power similar to their HL-726D for a German distributor)
- Albrecht ALPHA 4000 (40 channels 11m CB FM 4W, made by Cybernet)
- Midland 13-861 (23 channels matrix-XO 11m CB AM 4W Portapak)
- Midland 79-892 (40 channels 11m CB AM/SSB 4W/12W, made by Cybernet)
- Tokyo Hy-Power HL-30V (compact & lightweight 2m allmode PA 3W -> 30W with HF-VOX)
- Tokyo Hy-Power HX-240 (compact 2m in -> HF out allmode transverter 40W with HF-VOX),
  mainly operated with Icom IC-202S (analog VXO 2m SSB 3W Portapak,
  with 4 crystals to enable 144.0-144.8 MHz)

My QSL card shows the house in which I started my ham radio career in the "golden '80s" as a teenager - and the church spire that supported one end of my windom antenna that time.

An early fascination with radio waves
solidified into a lifelong passion...
